The Arts Society Sparkenhoe
Did the Ancient Greeks Know about the Golden Rectangle ?
Venue: The Dixie Grammar School - Station Rd, Market Bosworth, CV13 0LE
The Parthenon – probably the most famous ancient Greek temple in the world – has a façade which is a Golden Rectangle. But Euclid - the famous geometer who documented the concept of ‘the Golden Ratio’, was as yet unborn. In this richly illustrated lecture John looks at the evidence for and against this oft-quoted idea. JOHN SHERLOCK runs a business advising the owners of historic houses and landscapes, counting the National Trust and the Crown Estate among his clients.
